Everyone Is Using AI, Few Have A Plan
AI strategy, not technology, will define winners
INSIGHTS
Why does this matter? Because AI is quickly becoming a competitive issue, not just a technology issue.
Associations that learn how to integrate AI responsibly will be better positioned to create new products, improve member experiences, and scale operations without proportional increases in cost.
According to ASAE’s 2026 State of Associations report, 87.5% of associations are already using AI for content creation, yet only 7.8% feel very prepared to navigate AI’s implications. Nearly two-thirds cite insufficient in-house expertise as their biggest barrier. More than half are concerned about privacy and security.
Meanwhile, member expectations continue to rise.
Associations are exploring AI-powered personalization, intelligent search, chatbots, knowledge assistants, and content generation to deliver better member experiences and operate more efficiently.
The upside is compelling:
Faster content development
More personalized member experiences
Improved operational efficiency
New products and services
Increased scalability
But there are equally important risks:
Inaccurate outputs
Loss of trust
Intellectual property concerns
Data privacy challenges
Reduced human connection
There is another risk that receives less attention: irrelevance.
Members increasingly expect instant answers, personalized experiences, and intelligent recommendations. Associations that fail to adapt may struggle to demonstrate value in a world where information is available everywhere.
The winners will not be the associations using the most AI.
They will be the ones using AI in ways that strengthen trust, enhance expertise, and deliver more value to members.
AI should not replace relationships. The associations that win won’t choose between AI and human connection. They will combine both.
At Talent at Work, we believe associations deserve AI solutions designed specifically for their unique needs. We have been working behind the scenes on something exciting that will help associations unlock the power of AI while preserving trust, expertise, and human connection.
Stay tuned.
